I just finished this novel, not five minutes ago. After reading the first 50 pages, I thought I knew everything about the characters and the plot and had almost decided to put the book down. You see, I've been reading a lot of Sharon Sala novels lately because they are the perfect blend of interesting female characters and wonderful plots even though many people disagree. I don't think every ending with a happy ending is repetitive or predictable in every way. I can honestly say that I was not expecting the stalker to be the character that it was!
A little summary - Caitlin (Caitie) Bennett is a successful mystery writer in New York City who has no living family and doesn't enjoy being out in public much. One of her best friends is her editor, Aaron whom she adores. At the start of the book, both Caitlin and her publishing house have been receiving increasingly threatening letters that seem to be leading to harming Caitlin. After Caitlin is pushed on to a busy NYC street barely missed by an oncoming delivery truck, Aaron insists his very single, former police officer brother, Connor "Mac" McKee come to New York to protect Caitie from her stalker. It turns out the two have met before and things didn't go well. They tend to argue and disagree much more often than anything else. Of course, their relationship has twists and turns as the novel progresses with the increasing intensity of the stalker as he/she becomes a killer.
Of course the stalker is slightly deranged and the reader can tell his mindset because interspersed in sections of the chapters, we can follow "Buddy" as he plans his next move as we find out more and more about his motives. It's a wonderful addition to the telling of the story!
I really enjoyed the book! I'd read it again even though I the ending! Thank you Sharon Sala
That's all for now . . . see you with the next book.
